The 2024 RReSTORe Conference was held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at the University of Washington Magnuson Health Sciences Center in Seattle, Washington. The meeting drew 170 registrants, up from roughly 120 in 2022 — 66 faculty members, 46 postdoctoral fellows, 29 graduate students, 22 research associates, and representatives from foundations, funding agencies, and industry.
The day opened with an overview of the most important member-nominated breakthroughs of the preceding year, followed by presentations from the recipients of the 2023 RReSTORe Collaboration Grants: Kang-Chieh Huang and colleagues, Josh Morgan and Phil Williams, Kun-Che Chang, and Arupratan Das. Thirty-five travel grants were awarded to emerging vision scientists.
As at every RReSTORe meeting, the bulk of the day was given over to discussion rather than presentation, with three large discussion groups splitting into smaller sessions of about twenty people before merging back to report out in plenary.
Three discussion groups ran through the day, each beginning with a fifteen-minute introduction before breaking into smaller groups of roughly twenty people, then merging back to discuss their topics together.
